Fun with Skylark

To get ready for my Open House last night, I played with the remaining supplies from my Close To My Heart Consultant Kit. The theme was Skylark papers and embellishments.

This card was created using the zip strips. I trimmed them off of the 12x12 paper, then adhered them to a piece of cardstock taking care to match the pattern. Doing so created a chevron pattern.

Thinking of You Card - Curling Ribbon Technique

Special thanks to Amy Sheffer for this inspiration. 

I am loving the new Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon! It comes white and ready to color to match your project. For this bow, I used my Honey Ink Pad and ran it directly over 18" of ribbon. First I laid down plastic wrap on my work surface to save the ink color (I didn't have honey reinker so this is improvising). Then I sprayed a bit of water onto the ribbon, after donning plastic gloves, and rubbed the ribbon and ink together to soak up all the ink into the ribbon and achieve a more consistent color. To add a bit of sparkle, I added a dab of  Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint. Sprayed a bit more water onto the ribbon, rubbed it together, and set it out to dry.

Before creating the bow, I "ironed" the ribbon out a bit by running it between my bone folder and thumb and learned that the ribbon curls just like gift wrap curling ribbon!! How fun is that!!! To make the bow, I simply wound the ribbon around my hand, cinched the center with the brad, twisted out the loops, trimmed and curled the ends with the bone folder.

A couple of weeks ago I made a set of 20 thank you cards and a gift box for a friend's wedding shower gift. Everyone can always use thank you cards, right? 

To create these cards, I used the Wishes "Just Because Card Workshop". This is a quick easy way to make 20 cards (2 each of 10 designs) using 2 background and texture papers, 4 sheets of cardstock, and a few embellishments.

Folding Flower Rose Card

Friday I was searching through the Internet for some inspiration and came upon a fabulous fun folding paper rose pattern at Paper Crave! Tatyana Stolyarova is the talented Papercraft Artist who created this technique.

When closed the card is relatively flat and when opened a beautiful rose pops up!

My Art Day Project - Modern Quilling

On Saturday, August 22, our combined team of consultants, the Super Sassy Swappers, will get together in Cumberland, WI, to share new techniques with each other. We have Art Day 3 times a year, to coincide with the new Idea Book releases. We have a fantastic time bonding, snacking, and creating! This event is exclusive to consultants, if you would like to come to Art Day join my team!

The technique I’m sharing this time is quilling. Intead of the usual scrolling that you see in quilling I chose to create a flower. With this technique you can make a perfectly matched flower embellishment for your project. They are very easy to create!

Happy Birthday Thomas!

Our son Sam was invited to his friend's 6th birthday party. This is the birthday card we made for him. The inspiration came from the Tinkerin' workshop guide card from the Originals: A Heartfeld Classic pattern. We used second generation and random stamping techniques.
